Trey Anastasio Band // Oakland, CA poster concepts

Here are a few rough directions for the Oakland poster:

This concept is inspired by the warrior statues inside the fox theatre - the theatre is really architecturally interesting and while I was researching I read that it was almost destroyed by an arsonist in the 70s - I though it could be cool to have one of the statues emerging from some flames holding one trey's guitar instead of a spear or sword. I think this could look awesome with a nice bright 1970s california inspired color scheme.

Since the shows are so close to halloween I wanted to try something a little spooky.  This concept is based on the mountain view cemetery in oakland , which has these cool old pyramid shaped mausoleums. A mysterious fog cloud is emerging from one and forming the band name in some smoky psychedelic type. I think this poster could have a really nice mysterious/spooky atmosphere to it.

A more classic california approach - a birds eye view of a pool side sunbather with the band name worked into the texture of the water surface. I would like to illustrate this in a really graphic and minimal way with lots of suggested lines, negative space, and solid blocks of color.
