the national // final art

Here is the finished art for the posters - really dig how this came out I think they are going to look absolutely killer printed up full size. The halftones may display a little weird on this page, but they will look fine printed.

The National Poster Concepts

Here are a few rough concepts for the two NC posters. One of my favorite aspects of the band's music is the various layered sounds they employ to build a really cohesive thing. I've been experimenting with a torn-paper collage style that I think would work really well aesthetically and conceptually for these posters, a sort of visual metaphor for the sound. Here is an example of a poster I recently did using this style.

I think since these dates are so close it would be nice to have these work as a set - they could share colors and work as a diptych or stand alone.

These first two sketches are more pattern-based solution - each 'strip' would be a different photo/illustration/pattern/texture related to  themes found in the music, from a distance it would have a really striking graphic effect but upon closer inspection you could see all the individual images that fit together to create the whole.

These next three are a bit more free-form. Using collage to create a loose abstract landscape reminiscent of the studio and its surroundings. Again mixing different types of images & textures together to create the composition.

These would all utilize the same color scheme as the album art and supporting materials in order to maintain consistency and connect the posters back to the rest of the promo materials.
