SLOSS FEST POSTER // UPDATE 2

SLOSS FEST POSTER // UPDATE

updated lineup:

SLOSS FEST POSTER // FINAL ART

Here is the finished art for the poster, this is set up to be a 3 color print using transparent inks so the actual colors may look a little bit different once printed - I think its going to look great though, cant wait to see em printed!

SLOSS FEST // POSTER ART CONCEPTS

Here are a few rough directions for the poster - when I was working on these I was thinking about the energy that can be created by thousands of people at a festival, and had the idea to try to tie that to the massive amounts of energy expelled by the furnaces back in the day - the furnaces no longer make iron but they are still acting as a conduit for all of that explosive energy that live music can create.

A swirling psychedelic collage of color and texture coming from the furnaces below - this would be executed in a sort of photo illustration style, with each shape rendered with a different color and texture inside, maybe incorporating some found photos and other interesting little bits (see this print we did a few years ago for an example of this collage style). This concept is probably my personal favorite, I think it would look absolutely great rendered properly!

An exploding ball of energy reminiscent of iron being smelted - the band names would crawl around the perimeter of the poster with the smoke and debris intermingling with them. This would be rendered in a style inspired by the great Jack Kirby.

A group of ironworkers casting a giant SLOSS out of molten iron. Back in the day they would pour the molten iron straight into raked out molds in the ground to create the pig iron that came from sloss.

The furnaces become their own little world during sloss fest - so why not illustrate them as an island floating in space?

This idea would be executed in a mono-line style similar to this widespread poster we did last year. Lots of room for textures and fun, interesting linework.

I really love the color scheme you guys have used so far for this years materials, I'd like to incorporate those colors, or similar/complementary ones into our poster.
